INTRODUCTION TO THE WORKS MEDIA GROUP

The Works Media Group Plc (The Works, formerly Civilian Content Plc) is quoted on AIM, the London Alternative Investment Market. The group was formed in 1999 by the assembly of various interests in film and television development and production. It is incorporated in England and Wales, and mainly operates out of the United Kingdom. The Works has two core activities, each undertaken by a wholly owned subsidiary: -

The Works International

International Film Rights Sales Agency

In 2002, the group completed its acquisition of international film rights sales agency The Works (formerly The Sales Co). The business has been in existence for 20 years and over that time, The Works International has assembled an impressive catalogue of rights including Sweet Sixteen, 24 Hour Party People, In This World, Bend it like Beckham, Whale Rider, and My Summer of Love and is one of Europe's most distinguished sales agencies.

The Works UK Distribution

UK Film Distribution

The Works UK Distribution is a new business, which started trading in the autumn of 2005. It acquires a licence to distribute feature films in all media in the UK. The company has an output deal for home entertainment with Universal Pictures.

Additionally, the group still owns a third entity: -

The Film Consortium

Film Finance and Production Services

The Film Consortium (TFC) was acquired in 2000. A former National Lottery Film Franchise, with privileged access to Lottery funds, TFC also managed tax motivated film development and production funds in 2004. Trading activity has been discontinued but the significant catalogue of rights created as a result has been retained. The company also contains (and has maintained) the most complete database of film production activity in the UK in order to continue the sourcing of UK rights.

The three subsidiaries and the holding company, collectively The Works, constitute the UK's only quoted and vertically integrated film business, with the capability to distribute and sell feature films of all sizes, and a unique knowledge of the production and financing base from which they come.

The restructuring of the Group, largely completed by 2005, has created a logical, clean and synergistic business with substantial scope for growth. Today The Works is a springboard, which creates a considerable opportunity.
